This famous work of art, The Ancient of Days, was completed in 1794 by the English poet William Blake (1757-1827). The medium is relief etching with watercolor, and it is presently in the British Museum, London. The artwork depicts God with compasses, creating all life and light as the Great Architect of the Universe. Although there is no record of William Blake having been a Freemason, he is listed as a Grand Master in the Ancient Order of the Druids.
