The sculptor of the Statue of Liberty was Brother Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. He was initiated on October 14, 1875 in L’Alsace-Lorraine Lodge, Grand Orient of France. On August 5th, 1884, the cornerstone of the pedestal was laid by Brother William A. Brodie, Grand Master of New York, in full Masonic ceremony. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated to the United States on October 28, 1886. It is a monument to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and is a symbol of our freedom.
