Brothers, friends, and family: this masonic year at Hillsborough Lodge No. 25 F. & A.M. was filled with work, instruction, many new faces and newly initiated Brothers from all around the Tampa Bay area. Installation of 2011 Lodge Officers was held on December 27th, 2010. Labors began immediately to improve proficiency in degree work, new light bulb installation and electrical work inside the Lodge room, and construction of Boaz and Jachin inside the foyer downstairs. These columns were constructed, hand painted, and ornamented under the direction of our Chaplain, Brother Joshua Sussman. All of the light bulbs inside the Lodge room were replaced with energy saving, florescent bulbs. As a result, the entrance to our Lodge has been updated in keeping with the rich tradition of our Lodge, and the lighting inside the Lodge room is bright for our work, and operational for the Order of Eastern Star. .

The Worshipful Master's charity this year was the Florida Guardian ad Litem Program. It is a partnership of professional staff and community members whose sole purpose is to provide services and support to abused and neglected children.. The Lodge made contributions to this worthy charity, in addition to contributions to the HIKE fund, The Shriners Hospital, the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory, a scholarship benefit to a student from Hillsborough High School, and Teacher of the Year from Hillsborough High School. The Lodge also adopted a program which recognized a resident of the month from the Masonic Home of Florida. Each month, the Lodge made a presentation to a resident of the home at the Masonic Home Board meeting.

Our Annual Table Lodge was held on September 6th, 2011. Hillsborough Lodge hosted Brothers from all across the State of Florida. A multi course dinner, toasts, a greeting line ceremony, and fellowship helped make this event very successful. As in previous years, all attending Brothers are looking forward to the next one!

A record number of Brothers were initiated as Egypt Temple Shriners this year, in all about twenty from our Lodge. As well, Brothers joined other appendant orders, including the Scottish Rite Valley of Tampa, and the Order of the Eastern Star Tampa Chapter 11.

Moving Forward was theme of this Masonic year. All of the Officers and Brothers really came together and helped make this year very productive and a great success. A strong foundation is in place for the future of Hillsborough Lodge.
