The steps in Freemasonry represent the appendant orders of the Fraternity, and allude to the journey for knowledge that all Masons seek. As depicted above, the first three steps are the first three degrees in Freemasonry: the Entered Apprentice, the Fellowcraft, and Master Mason. From this step, a Mason may further his knowledge by the steps of Scottish Rite or the York Rite Orders. In either case, the end result is the same: greater knowledge of himself, his Creator, and all mankind.
